An octopus uses jet propulsion to make a quick getaway at Juan de Fuca Ridge, depth 2660m. Octopuses generally crawl along the sea floor, but when they feel the need for speed, cephalopods can move very fast; they draw water into a cavity in their muscular mantle (body), then forcefully squeeze the water out of a small hole called a siphon.
