I sure do miss this old gal! This PBY Catalina was locally based for many years. It was flown down to Florida to film Indianapolis when the pilots forgot to seal the hull and the poor bird started to take on water. Incredible! Yesterday, a vintage Consolidated PBY Catalina flying boat took flight from the waters of Pearl Harbor in preparation for the 75th Commemoration of the End of WWII. The Consolidated/Boeing Canada PBY Catalina was used for long range patrol and reconnaissance missions, antisubmarine warfare, as well as search and rescue.
