Towards the end of our Outer Space class, for our penultimate song, I turned down the energy levels and played the flute. The children had sliding whistles, which they’d been using to make alien noises. Now wind instruments (at this age - ocarinas, whistles, kazoos etc) are tricky for small people, they want to suck at them and wonder why there’s no (good) sounds, so I use the analogy of blowing on your food when it’s hot - such a familiar concept for a toddler!
