The Blue Box Program in Ontario will transition from being city-managed to industry-led as of Jan 1, 2026. This means producers (the companies that create and sell packaged products) will take over responsibility for managing residential recycling, including in London, meaning that the City of London is no longer responsibly for recycling. Here in Ajax, some small businesses on main streets and in unique situations are now forced to make tough choices. Some are taking recyclables home to their residential bins.
