We talk about how microscopic gold particles are being used to restore vision to the blind in a lab at Brown University. Researchers have discovered that when gold nanoparticles are injected into the eye, they can mimic the function of damaged photoreceptors. Once activated by infrared light, these particles start reacting to visual input and sending signals to the brain. Early trials with blind mice have shown that these particles can help them regain light sensitivity and basic sight functions
