🐸 You’ve heard of toad in the hole… but what about frogs in the bog? Right now, Ballynahone Bog is hopping with common frogs as they gather to spawn. Each female can lay up to 4,000 eggs in a single spring, forming huge ‘rafts’ of jelly-like frogspawn. Depending on the weather, frogs can start spawning as early as December or as late as April, with tadpoles taking around 14 weeks to transform into tiny froglets.
