Water entered this medieval fish tank through the stone conduit at the top and flowed out at the bottom, keeping the fish fresh for cooking. (The fish were caught in the nearby Black River). A trough carried away waste cooking water. This is the huge fireplace which was used for cooking and the oven for the bakehouse next door. Location: Ross Errilly Friary, near Headford, Co.
