Children with apraxia of speech require a motor planning approach to speech therapy because apraxia is fundamentally a motor disorder that affects a child’s ability to plan and execute the movements necessary for clear speech. Through exercises that focus on motor planning, Michael learns to feel and hear the difference between correct and incorrect movements, promoting self-correction and independence in speech.
