Sitting right on the edge of the Columbia River near Vancouver, Washington, Beacon Rock shoots 800 feet straight up from the valley floor. All volcanoes in the Cascade Range of Oregon and Washington are at normal background activity levels. Current Volcano Alert Level: NORMAL Current Aviation Color Code: GREEN During the past week, small earthquakes were detected at Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Hood. Field crews were at Mount St. Helens and Mount Rainier to finish installation of new monitoring stations. Last week, CVO staff installed five new stations along the White River, north of Mount Rainier in Washington state.
