Dowel joinery. Don’t knock it ‘till you try it. I needed a good way to mount these corbels without getting extreme with fasteners or drilling holes on the side or face. I used dowels for furniture! Let’s try it on these corbels! The weight on the box mantel is being held by 2x4s and lag screws, so these corbels are mainly aesthetic. But, why not still toss some traditional joinery in the mix?
