"Saving" and "Exporting" your design in Hatch Embroidery software are two different things. Your working (design) file is the EMB file. It is fully editable. When you finish with your design, first you need to "Save" all your changes to it, then you "Export" it to the file format your embroidery machine will recognize, eg. PES, JEF, EXP.
