More parchment stitching repairs! They’re very common, but I love them. It’s a little glimpse into the labor that went into making and preparing writing materials in the Middle Ages. Often it was the parchment maker who stitched holes closed before selling the parchment to someone. But of course it was also possible that the consumer did it after buying the parchment. Either way, parchment was valuable, and it was often better to patch it up when necessary than discard it for having a few holes.
