Common Snapping Turtles have an incredible bite force that is capable of crushing bones and metal objects. They use this bite force to catch prey and defend themselves from predators. This Common Snapping Turtle (24-2518) was transported to our wildlife hospital after being found in a lethargic state. An x-ray was taken during intake revealing that the patient was gravid with 12 eggs. After spending a night in the hospital’s wildlife ward, the patient was moved to one of our outdoor habitats for

57 reactions · 13 comments | We still have this small snapping turtle here with eye and jaw injury which is healing up and should be able to be released soon and she's got eggs so each day I take her out of the pond and place her in an area in case she wants to lay her eggs. Well today she climbed out of the area and over to the park bench and dug a test nest there. Guess she liked that spot better.
