The ocean is our best ally against some of our planet’s biggest threats. 🌊 Looking after it is in our best interest. But here’s the situation: 60% of our ocean belongs to no one. 😳 This (called the High Seas) is what lies beyond national jurisdiction. (✅ That’s the fancy way of saying it’s outside of any country’s control.) But because no one owns these parts of the ocean, it’s difficult to regulate these areas (from overfishing and mining, for example). Only 8% of the ocean is protected. 💙 A
